Couplings

Couplings are used as connectors to hold pipes, tubes, and shafts together. Couplings securely connect two separate pieces together and maintain proper alignment while still allowing for some degree of flexibility. Depending on the application, couplings might also help reduce the risk of backlash, overload, and shock or vibration from interfering with the connection.

Couplings find application in a variety of equipment across a wide range of industries and have several types available, each of which vary in design, capabilities and best use cases. For example, hydraulic couplings see use in critical fluid transfer and processing machinery, while pneumatic couplings are often used for heated and pressurized air. Couplings are often custom-designed based on the parameters of the intended use case to ensure an optimal solution.

General Features of RCF Couplings

RCF couplings vary in size, material, pressure rating, and end port depending on the requirements and restrictions of the application. They can feature a ball joint which allows for additional movement, quick connect/disconnect capabilities and are suitable for general-purpose and industrial use. RCF couplings are specially designed to withstand rigorous operating demands and harsh working environments, such as high temps.

What Makes Couplings From RCF Technologies Different?

At RCF Technologies, we specialize in lightweight, high-performance couplings made from metal. The advantages of using RCF Technologies products include:

  • Easy installation. Each coupling can be installed without tools. Clients can choose between snap ring closures and straight sleeve couplings
  • More flexibility. Each coupling offers a 5° misalignment capability per side, which is greater than the 3° standard in the industry.
  • More material options. Customers can choose between aluminum, 17-7 stainless steel, and titanium couplings. Couplings can also have customized sizes, lengths, latch types, and configurations.
  • Simple design. Each coupling has two end caps, two seals, two split rings, and the housing, providing a full assembly.

RCF Technologies also owns Rishon®, a material that can create an FAA-approved fire barrier with a .027” thickness, heat and flame insulation as thin as .050”, and reliable performance at temperatures ranging from -170° F to +850° F.

RCF Technologies Benefits

Our couplings require no tools for installation or removal and are available in high-pressure, snap ring closure, and straight sleeve coupling variants upon request. We also provide customization capabilities for the coupling’s housing length and configuration, diameter, and latch type. These options allow our customers to tailor their couplings to their unique needs.
Although 90% of the customer base for our couplings comes from the aerospace industry, our couplings are suitable for use in a variety of other industries as well, including:

Other Industries

  • Automotive
  • Defense
  • General industrial
  • Marine
