Our material of choice is Rishon®, our proprietary hybrid of fabric and elastomers with the best properties of both. Rishon in Aerospace Manufacturing
Aerospace components require durability, wide temperature tolerances, and resistances to myriad factors. Rishon expands the capabilities of standard rubber and makes it comparable or superior to many of the composites used in aerospace manufacturing. This material possesses a variety of beneficial properties that make it ideal for use in modern aerospace manufacturing, such as:
- Continuous operation within temperatures ranging from -170º F (-112.2º C) to 850º F (454.4º C)
- Compliance with Advisory Circular 20-135 criteria of 15 minutes of direct contact with a 2000º F (1093.3º C) flame (without backside penetration)
- FAA-approved fire barrier (thickness from .027″)
- Broad compatibility with the majority of fluids used in aircraft
- Won’t degrade from chemical exposure (Skydrol, diesel fuel, jet fuel, etc.)
- Bonds to all metals and most composites (if parent material is used as adhesive in the B stage)
- Vulcanization within three minutes at 300º F
- Absorbs vibration and sound
- Acts as flame and heat insulation in thicknesses as low as .050″
- Non-conductive, but can be converted to a conductive state without losing flexibility
- Low outgassing properties (well within NASA requirements, even in vacuum conditions)
